Individual Therapy for Teens

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”

– E.E. Cummings

Being a teenager isn’t easy to begin with…and now school is weird, seeing friends isn’t an option, and staying at home might not feel safe.

The routines and traditions for kids is in flux right now.  The way they grew up doing life has been ripped away from them – and it’s not their fault.  How frustrating and confusing it must be for them.

Come spring time, at the end of the school year…No end of the year projects or in person graduation ceremonies to show how hard they’ve worked.  No final banquets or proms.  No championship games or award ceremonies.  There is such a lead up to the end of the year and it’s falling flat compared to the way it should be.

They’re dealing with a type of grief that is unknown to many adults and it’s probably leaking out as signs of depression and anger and anxiety.

If they’re acting like it’s the end of the world, it kind of is.

This is a season that we only get to go through one time.  It’s a highlight reel that even adults well into their old age talk about with great fondness.

And it’s being torn away, out of anyone’s control, without a seemingly good answer as to when this pain will go away.  The adults can’t “fix” things or soothe this away because we’ve never been through it before either.

The future is uncertain and it’s extra maddening to teens who have been looking forward to the traditions that celebrate them and honor the work they’ve done.

Plus, they’re still dealing with the issues that plagued them when things were “normal.”

Social media pressure, cyber bullying, body issues, anxiety, academic pressure of a new type of schooling, disordered eating, and a myriad of relational troubles.

No matter what you try, you can’t get a peep out of them.

You’re trying to help them as you all figure out this new paradigm but, you honestly just want the best for your teenager.

We’re here to help.

At Greenlake Wellness Group, we have several available therapists who ADORE working with teens.  There’s a special spice of life that only teenagers have and sometimes it’s hard for this age group to express that to their every day people.

We want to help your teens through the process of grieving the unfairness that’s happening.  We believe that expressing the feelings that are bubbling up can be helpful and healthy for the overall adaptability that it takes to becoming a grown up.

By providing them with their own tools for thriving – and if need be, collaborating with you for healing – we believe that you’ll thrive too.

Let us support you.
