My Work

My work as a therapist uses a psychodynamic framework that incorporates trauma informed care, narrative therapy, and relational psychology. The psychodynamic framework allows me to observe and think about what might be happening unconsciously for my clients and what might be happening unconsciously between the client and the therapist. The relationship between client and therapist is of greatest importance and helps to build trust to create space for the unconscious parts to emerge. I also work with the stories that emerge from therapy. Stories are the key that unlock the door to the unconscious parts of ourselves and the ribbon that connect the dots of our symptoms. Finally, therapy is a scary thing that can bring up a lot of unfamiliar feelings, memories, and discomfort, and because of that I wish to give my clients tools they can use to support themselves throughout their week.

My Belief

I believe there is no better time to enter therapy than right now. Regardless of what brings someone into therapy, everyone needs someone to listen, care, and offer tools and insight. I believe being in relationships with others is a vital need of all humans and the relationship between the client and therapist is the most important aspect of my therapeutic work.

My Background

I received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Spring Arbor University in southern Michigan. I then began working in the laboratory sciences in North Carolina and then moved into in-patient oncology work. It was during this time I began investigating my own unconscious habits and story, which brought me to receive my master’s in counseling psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in Seattle, WA. During my master’s program and internship, I spent much of my time investigating shame, childhood trauma and abuse, sexuality, and complex trauma. I am currently a License Mental Health Counselor Associate (MC61432881) in the state of Washington.

My Self

I’ve always been someone who pursues the root cause of an issue. It was for this reason I pursued my own therapeutic journey. I was experiencing the repercussions of my own story and choices and was trying to keep the symptoms of my world at bay. It was during a personal therapy session, when my therapist and I connected the dots and “aha”, it made sense. It was in that moment, I wanted to become a therapist myself. I had experienced a deepening of life and I wanted to walk with others into that same depth.
