Getting started with therapy

It can feel challenging to get started with therapy. What therapist might be a fit for you, what expertise, and how to approach your needs. Not to mention the complexity of costs and insurance. We want to help you navigate to get the support you need.

Step 1. Find a therapist.

Browse our diverse therapists to understand who might be a fit for your needs. They have numerous specializations and therapy approaches to explore.

If you're not sure, get in touch and we'll be happy to help match you to a therapist based on your needs.

Step 2. Understand insurance coverage and costs.

Costs for mental health therapy can vary depending on if you want to use insurance, if your insurance covers therapy, if we are in-network or out-of-network, or if you want to pay directly. In addition, some services such as couples therapy are often not covered by insurance. Read our resources on insurance and fees to understand what costs you may have.

Step 3. Book your initial appointment.

Reach out using our Book Appointment form to set up your initial intake meeting with your therapist. You'll want to provide us with 2-3 options for days/times to meet to make sure it can work with your schedule.

We'll collect your insurance information and a credit card to keep on file for copays.

Step 4. Beginning therapy.

After your intake appointment, typically you will schedule some regular sessions for as long as you need, working with your therapist on frequency and duration of care.

If you need to cancel or reschedule sessions, you will work directly with your therapist to adjust times.
