Laura Flynn
LMHC
With warmth and curiosity, I work alongside adults who are figuring out how to live well, trust themselves, and build a life that actually fits their values.
My Work
I work with individual adults who are searching for how to live well, trust themselves, and live in greater alignment with their values. Many of my clients are navigating life transitions, the challenges of parenthood, relationship difficulties, or the questions that often emerge during midlife. Others come to therapy because they want a deeper sense of meaning and purpose or simply feel ready to understand themselves more fully.
My approach integrates humanistic, existential, and psychodynamic perspectives with evidence-based skills drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I tailor therapy to each client's unique needs, balancing insight-oriented exploration with practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in genuine curiosity—one where clients feel safe to explore their inner experience and move toward lasting growth.
My Belief
I believe our emotions are not problems to be solved—they are meaningful sources of information. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult feelings, therapy offers an opportunity to explore them with curiosity and compassion. As we begin to understand what our emotions are communicating, they often become less overwhelming and more revealing.
Meaningful change happens when we develop a deeper relationship with ourselves. Through greater self-awareness and self-trust, we become more able to make choices that reflect our values, strengthen our relationships, and create lives that feel authentic and fulfilling.
My Background
I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology with a focus in Existential Psychology from Seattle University and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington State. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in public health research, an experience that strengthened my appreciation for careful inquiry, evidence-informed practice, and the many factors that influence our well-being.
My Self
Originally from the East Coast, Seattle has been my home for the past 25 years. Outside of my practice, I'm the mom of one tween and one Bernese Mountain Dog, and I enjoy both urban and outdoor adventures with them throughout the Pacific Northwest. .
