Christa Currier
MA, LMHCA
Grounded in somatic, relational, and systems-informed care, I meet you as the expert of your own story, holding space with compassion and curiosity as we explore what's asking for care in your life and relationships.
In our work together, my goal is to create a safe-enough space where you can explore, tend to, and navigate both internal and external challenges. My work is informed by a variety of modalities including trauma informed somatic, psychodynamic relational, and systems approaches. This means we spend time listening to and caring for the story of your body, mind, relationships, and world. I want to understand you holistically. You don’t exist in isolation, rather you are interconnected with all that surrounds you. Your own experiences, beliefs, feelings, and stories are impacted by your family, friends, culture, land, language and context. You have developed ways of understanding, coping and being in the world that have helped you survive. I want to facilitate a compassionate understanding of yourself as together we imagine new paths forward. This can include building trust with yourself and your own experience, understanding and changing patterns in your relationships, and acknowledging the impact that larger systems or ideologies have on you daily life.
As a therapist, I am not an expert with all the answers - rather you are the expert on your own life and story. Through working together, I hope to be with you as we explore with kindness, compassion and bravery the parts of your life that need extra care and support. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in the State of Washington. I graduated from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology with a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Before entering the mental health field, I worked for over 6 years in international community development. During that time I lived in Guatemala, Central America for several years. It was a season that shaped me like none other . My professional life has always involved building relationships, listening deeply and growing to be a life long learner. In my personal life I enjoy spending time playing, making crafts, cooking yummy food, or connecting with loved ones, plants, and animals.
